PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Sierra Flame Lynwood W76: Freestanding Cast Iron Wood Stove
The Sierra Flame Lynwood W76 is a freestanding cast iron wood stove that heats 450 to 2,000 sq. ft. with up to 51,600 BTU/hr. It is EPA 2020 certified and UL 1482 listed, so it burns cleaner and uses less wood than older, uncertified stoves. Not sure which wood stove fits your space? Read our Wood & Pellet Stove Buying Guide.
More Efficient Than a Standard Wood Stove
The Lynwood W76 has a lab-measured average efficiency of 76% (HHV) and 82% (LHV), reaching 84.5% at its optimum burn rate. That is above the roughly 71% average for non-catalytic stoves with verified ratings, and well above an older, uncertified stove, so more of each log becomes heat in your room. The EPA says certified stoves can use up to one-third less firewood than older models. For best results, burn seasoned wood at 15-18% moisture at a medium burn rate.
Key Features
- Cast iron body with vermiculite firebox insulation for heat retention and durability
- Large glass door (20½" x 12") with an air-wash system to help keep the glass clean
- Non-catalytic combustion: no catalytic combustor to replace
- 1.55 cu. ft. firebox for 21" logs and burn times up to 14 hours (varies with home, climate, wood and operation)
- Top or rear 6" flue exit for flexible venting, plus a built-in 4" outside air connection
- Ash pan, log retainer and cold handle included for easier cleanup and a cool-touch door handle
- Works during power outages: real wood heat needs no electricity
A classic European cast iron design that suits rustic, transitional and traditional rooms, from living rooms and cabins to open-plan spaces.
Installation Requirements
- Venting: 6" chimney connector (24-gauge black steel or 26-gauge blued steel; no aluminum or galvanized) to a UL 103 HT factory-built chimney or a code-approved masonry chimney with a flue liner. The manual suggests at least 13 ft total height, 3 ft above the roof and 2 ft above any roof surface within 10 ft.
- Connector pipe: No more than one 90° elbow, a maximum 36" horizontal run, and 10 ft or less total length recommended.
- Floor protection: On a combustible floor, use a noncombustible hearth pad (minimum R-value 1.0, UL 1618) extending 8" beyond the sides and back and 18" in front.
- Room: Minimum 6'0" ceiling. Alcove installs need at least 63" wide by 63" high. Not approved for mobile homes.
- Clearances: Clearances to combustible walls depend on your connector pipe type and are in the owner's manual. An optional Sierra Flame heat shield reduces them so you can place the stove closer to a wall. It is not required.
- Always follow local building codes. Your local building official has the final say.

Frequently Asked Questions
What type of wood should I burn?
Dry, seasoned cord wood at 15-18% moisture. Do not use wood above 20% moisture. Do not burn garbage, treated or painted wood, driftwood or pressed logs, as the stove was not tested with compressed logs or bricks.
Does it need outside air?
It has a standard 4" outside air connection at the rear. Tightly sealed, well-insulated homes may need an outside air source for good draft. Check your local building codes.
Is the heat shield required?
No. It is optional and only needed if you want to place the stove closer to a wall. Contact us for availability.
