PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Drolet Escape 1800 Freestanding Wood Stove — EPA-Certified | 75,000 BTU | Side Panels & Top Heat Exchanger | Heats 2,100 Sq Ft
The Drolet Escape 1800 is the standard freestanding version of Drolet's most popular wood stove platform — a pedestal-base EPA-certified stove with 75,000 BTU/h of output, reduced-clearance side panels, a top heat exchanger, and a 2.4 cu ft firebox that burns up to 8 hours. Built for larger homes, open-concept living areas, and cabins, it's one of the best-selling wood stoves in the Drolet lineup for good reason.

Why the Escape 1800 Wins
The Escape 1800 is the most versatile model in the Escape 1800 family — the pedestal base gives it a cleaner, more modern silhouette than the cast iron leg versions while retaining every heating advantage: side panels, top heat exchanger, 8-hour burn times, and the full 75,000 BTU output. The top heat exchanger is a real-world performance advantage in larger rooms, actively pushing heat forward rather than letting it pool at ceiling height.
The pedestal design is the most installation-neutral of the three versions — it works equally well in modern, traditional, and transitional interiors without the visual weight of cast iron legs. Prefer a different look? See the Escape 1800 on Cast Iron Legs or the Escape 1800 with Cast Iron Legs & Brushed Nickel Door.
Installation Requirements at a Glance
- Venting: 6" connector pipe and a chimney listed to ULC S629 / UL 103 HT. The manual calls for a minimum chimney height of 12 ft.
- Floor protection: On a combustible floor, use a continuous non-combustible surface such as steel, sealed ceramic tile, cement board, or brick. No R-value is required. See the manual for dimensions.
- Clearances: Required clearances to combustibles depend on whether you use single-wall or double-wall connector pipe. An optional heat shield (Drolet part AC02762) lets a single-wall connector use the double-wall clearances. See the manual for exact figures.
- Alcove: Approved for alcove installation.
- Mobile home: Approved, with conditions — double-wall pipe only (single-wall is strictly forbidden), the optional fresh air intake kit with an insulated intake pipe, and the stove secured to the floor.
- Codes: Always follow local building codes and contact your local building or fire officials about permits and inspections.

Optional Accessories
Available separately from Drolet: a variable-speed blower with thermodisc (up to 130 CFM), a 5" fresh air intake kit, a reduced-clearance heat shield, and a rigid fire screen. In the US, a rigid fire screen may not be used to burn with the door open. Contact our team for availability: support@luxoutdoorfireplaces.com | (877) 335-2178.
